Hummingbird moth also known as the Sphinx moth. It has been years since I have seen one. One of the benefits of creating a cut garden is the beautiful visitor which appear to enjoy the garden also.
They are called Hummingbird Moths because like hummingbirds they beat their wings very fast to fly and maneuver about from flower to flower. They have a beautiful black and white pattern on their back.
Like hummingbirds they they move quickly and love colorful flowers.
