Lupines the flower not to be confused with wolves

When talking about Lupines you need to make sure people understand that you are talking about flowers not wolves. Lupine means wolf. It come from the Latin root. According to BLM.gov https://www.blm.gov/or/resources/recreation/tablerock/files/lupine_wolf_flower.pdf

It was named because being a poisonous plant people thought the plant and wolves killed there livestock.

Lupins grow in the wild and are considered a wildflower. I have seen entire fields look like they are flooded but it is just the lupis in the spring. This is a new plant to my garden. I am excited to see if the grow. I love the flowers along with the unique leaf pattern.

The flowers grow erect spikes which come in a variety of colors. The most common flower is blue. I bought blue and a red color.
