Mademoiselle Antoinette’s Parfumerie

A hidden gem. While at Disneyland in California we walked back behind the Main Streets in the French Quarter District Known as New Orleans Square. While searching for a restroom I found this sign painted on a stucco wall. The window had beautiful golden peacocks As part of the display. I took a picture because the script and design are beautiful. There is a actual store where you can purchase perfume in Disneyland.

In a place known for trinkets, pins, ears. Popcorn holders and cups decorated by cartoon characters it is not often you see something practical and beautiful without being to ostentatious. Most things about Disneyland are over the top. This is not.

In doing some research this was a store opened originally in 1966 with other specialty boutiques. It had its own fragrances for sale. It was closed along with others in the 1990s. This along with other stores long closed are starting to re-appear. Keep you eyes out for more to come.

If you have a chance slow down and explore you can find some neat things that most people don’t see because the are so tied up in the stress of doing everything. Not to spoil anything for you but it is impossible to do everything!

One interesting item is that I recently put this as a profile picture on social media and the filters I think thought it was a tattoo due to th he color of stucco.
