Make them think you cooked all day with fast and easy Chili

Chili can be a long and time consuming meal or you can short cut the process by using canned ingredients and make it fast and easy. Both taste great and no one will know the difference if you soaked the beans and cooked them all day or if you used canned beans.

1 lb mild Italian Sausage

1 lb Ground Beef

2 Onions diced

1 tsp minced Garlic

2 large Bell Peppers diced (1 Red 1 Yellow)

1 16 oz can Chili Beans in sauce (Pinto)

1 16 oz can Black Beans rinsed and drained

1 16 oz can Kidney Beans rinsed and drained

1 15 oz can Tomato Sauce

1 15 oz can diced Tomatoes and Green Chilis

1 15 oz can Fire Roasted diced Tomatoes

2 4 oz cans diced Green Chili

1 16 oz frozen Chili Brick or Chili starter

Fresh Ground Pepper

1 tsp garlic powder

1 1/2 Tablespoons Chili Powder

1 teaspoon Cumin

1 teaspoon Paprika

Salt to taste ( I didn’t add extra due to the salt in the canned product)

In a enameled Dutch oven place the two types of meat. Cook them until they are brown and crumbly. Add the diced onion and minced garlic and cook until transparent.

Add diced peppers, canned green chili, tomatoes, beans. and frozen chili stater. Simmer until frozen starter is fully incorporated. Taste as you go some chili starters have more seasoning than others. Add seasoning and simmer on medium low for an hour or two covered; stirring occasionally.

Serve hot with cheese, sour cream, and sour dough bread.
