Quilting is a great wintertime craft.

As you sit in your home during the winter you always want to be warm and comfortable. Like sitting in you favorite chair, snuggled up with your favorite hot drink and blanket.

Well summer is to hot to make and quilt blankets. It gets hot working under them, but winter it is the perfect time to work on quilts and blankets.

I am working on several projects

1. On the new quilting frame is my son’s blanket. He picked the fabric. Red and Black Buffalo Check Fleece backing with a pieced flannel top. It is a large blanket for Someone who is tall. 60 wide by 108 long.

2. I call the baby blanket “Drama Queen”. It is black, white, and hot pink. I picked up the base fabric from a little family own shop that was closing. It was a remnant I bought for $1.00. It was almost a yard. So I pieced some fabric to make it match the backing. I needed it to be 1 1/2 yards long instead of just 1 yard. I pieced several additional pieces to match the size of the backing. It is very dramatic and busy, but will be beautiful.

3. This is my style a little feminine and a little not to make a quilt. Taking a strong bold red and black checked pattern and pairing it with a feminine wildlife print which has lace and embroidery details. My mom told me, “pink never looked good on you, I always had you in red.” Still feminine just not super girly.

This quilt is made up of 5x5 squares. I finished the top and will use the same red and black pattern for the back.
