Rustic Rag Garland

Updated: Dec 15, 2020

A rustic garland is a easy craft project for anyone’s skill level. I put together a kit for my 12 year old niece for Thanksgiving. She did a great job and enjoyed the craft. The garland can be used to decorate a tree, railing, window, or mantle. To make a garland you will need:

5 feet of Jute, string, or yarn.

3 different patterns of fabric cut 24 each

1st - 1 inch wide and 6 inches long

2nd - 1 inch wide and 8 inches long

3rd - 1 inch wide and 10 inches long

Optional 5 large beads

Tie a loop on one end. Rotate between different cuts and colors of material. Tie the material using knots on the string. Add beads at different areas and continue to tie until the five feet of string is filled. Tie another loop on the end.

Hang To decorate.

To make a kit to hand out at holidays place the three different fabrics in different sandwich bags and seal. Place in a gallon bag alone with Jute cut to five feet and five beads.

Pre-make the kit in different colors, holiday fabric, or designs.
