Sour Cream Chocolate Cake

This is my father’s favorite cake. My husband says it tastes like a brownie and a cake had a baby. It is rich, decadent but not overwhelmingly heavy.

Cake

1 cup Butter

1 cup Water

4 tablespoons Cocoa

Melt the butter in a sauce pan and add water and cocoa. Bring to a boil and remove from heat.

In a separate bowl add the dry ingredients.

2 cups Flour

2 cups Sugar

1/2 teaspoon Salt

Pour chocolate mixture in to the dry ingredients and mix to incorporate. Add

2 Eggs

1/2 cup Sour Cream

1 teaspoon Baking Soda

Beat well and pour into a greased and floured cake pan. Place in a preheated 375 degree oven for 30 - 35 minutes.

Frost with frosting below while still slightly warm.

Boiled Chocolate Frosting

1/2 cup Butter

6 tablespoons Evaporated Milk

2 tablespoons Cocoa

Place the above ingredients into a saucepan and bring to boil. Remove from heat and add

2 1/2 cups Powdered Sugar

1/2 teaspoon Vanilla

Stir and add additional evaporated milk if needed to make a smooth frosting.

If frosting a double layer cakes then double the frosting.
