No matter where you go in the world people celebrate this time of year as a rebirth, a time of growth and the end of winter.
In Japan, sakura season or Cherry Blossom season is tradition. People travel from near and far to enjoy the beauty. They celebrate the season by picnicking under the trees and viewing gardens filled with the fragrant blossom.
Many other places celebrate the flowering of the fruit trees but no culture reveres the blossoms as much as the Japanese.
As a kid I remember singing the song Popcorn popping on the apricot tree. When I see the blossoms I always remover this song.
I have flowering pear trees which are not as wonderful smelling as cherry or other fruit trees but just as beautiful with no fruit to worry about in the fall. If you don’t have flowering trees think about getting some. They are beautiful harbingers of Spring!!!
