Traditional Cornbread

If you are a cornbread traditionalist you will love this recipe. It is crumbly matches best with BBQ or smoked meats.


Shopping List

Buttermilk

Cornmeal

Corn Starch

Sugar

Honey

Egg

Butter

Flour

Salt

Baking Soda


Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Place 1 1/2 Tablespoons Butter in a 10 inch Cast Iron skillet. Place in the oven.


In a bowl place 1 1/3 milk, 1 cup cornmeal, 1/3 cup sugar, 1/4 cup honey, and 1 egg. Stir all ingredients together.

Mix in a separate bowl add 1 cup flour, 1 tsp baking soda, 2 tsp corn starch, and 1/4 salt.

Pour the dry ingredients into the wet and stir.

Mix 1/3 cup melted butter into mixture.


Remove hot pan from oven and add corn bread mixture.

Bake 15 to 20 minute.
