Twinberry Honeysuckle

Writer: wildflowersandcastironwildflowersandcastiron

Have you ever slowed down, looked around, and found something new and perplexing. This year is the first time I saw Twinberry Honeysuckle. We were up in the high Wasatch Mountains and stopped to take a break. Next to a small stream this little bright red flower appeared under a willow next to some other flowers.

I started to research the plant because it is such a different wildflower that it took sometime to find out what it was. It is a Rocky Mountain native plant found primarily in the Western United States and Canada. Below is a link giving further details about the bush, https://plants.usda.gov/factsheet/pdf/fs_loin5.pdf

It’s always best to stop and look around. sometimes you will find something new and unexpected.
