Wooden Bead Ornaments; Add a little rustic touch to your tree

Updated: Dec 26, 2020

Wooden Bead Ornaments add a rustic touch to your Christmas tree. They are not only for Christmas but can be used with garlands to decorate throughout your home.

These ornaments are selling on Etsy, Facebook marketplaces, and boutiques for $20.00 for 5 or $6.00 a piece. They can be made for a lot cheaper.

I have also added other colored wooden beads to create tassels for other holidays.

Here is how you make them:

Supplies

Jute or embroidery floss

Mixed bag of wooden beads

different shapes and sizes

Needle 69mm

Scissors

Ruler

I make two different sizes. They are made the same way just different lengths. 5 bead or 7 bead.

To make a 7 bead start by cutting a piece of jute twice the length of the finished ornament (25 inches long).

Thread the needle and place 7 beads in your chosen pattern.

Lay the needle down and move the beads across the needle and jute until it comes to the bottom and can unthread the jute.

Be careful to not lose any of the beads.

3 inches from the top tie a knot.

At the bottom tie a knot.

Take the jute and measure 14 inches, looping it 11 times to create the tassel.

Take the beads and separate the two strands at the bottom. Fold the looped string in half to find the middle.

Place the looped jute in the middle of the strings and tie a square knot.

Pull the tassel together and grab the long strand from the looped jute. Loop it around the top and tie it.

Wrap it three times tightly, tie a knot, and run needle down the middle of the tassel.

Thread the needle with the strand and pull it through.

Cut the end of the tassel to desired length.

The only difference with 5 bead and 7 bead is that the jute for the beaded section is cut at a length of 19 inches. The looped jute length for the tassel should be measured and looped at 8 inches long.

They can be used for more than ornaments.
